The Yin & Yang
of Gerry Lopez

Working with Director, Stacy Peralta, on a film identity that covers the life of surfer and yogi Gerry Lopez. The Yin & Yang represents Gerry’s aggressive surfing style that is balanced as a zen Buddhist and a lifelong yogi. The goal was to make a timeless, modern look with hints of a vintage poster.

The blue and greens represent the ocean and contrast the red and yellow that tied to Gerry’s competitive persona in the 1970’s when riding boards of the same color.

Design and animation of identity, social, tour collateral and marketing materials. Also assisted with lower thirds and graphics for the final edit of the film.

Blue Heart of Europe

Film Identity to promote the film Blue Heart and corresponding activism campaign work to educate why dams are a problem, not the solution. This film was key in creating Vjosa Wild River National Park, established on March 15, 2023. Nearly 50,000 acres and around 250 miles of protected river running freely from the border of Albania and Greece to the Adriatic Sea, and includes three tributaries.

To compliment the film, a separate campaign was developed as a means to take action. Building momentum globally required getting people involved whether or not they had seen the film.

Public Trust

Public Trust is a film about the Fight for America’s Public Lands, from Executive Producers Robert Redford & Yvon Chouinard.

Over 2.8 Million views since premiering in September 2020

Worked closely with an artist to execute a realistic scene that represents America’s public lands being offered up to the highest bidder. Starting with conceptual mockups, we built on the subject matter and refined details to highlight the three locations discussed in the film.

With a cast of greedy politicians, the main character was created to be uncomfortably recognizable as a coprorate and political threat.

Designing all marketing materials for tour and retail sales. Worked with director Keith Malloy and Illustrator Geoff McFetridge to realize graphics from ideation to applications and a final animation.

Unbroken Ground

Unbroken Ground explains the critical role food will play in the next frontier of our efforts to solve the environmental crisis. It explores four areas of agriculture that aim to change our relationship to the land and oceans. Most of our food is produced using methods that reduce biodiversity, decimate soil and contribute to climate change. We believe our food can and should be a part of the solution to the environmental crisis – grown, harvested and produced in ways that restore our land, water and wildlife. The film tells the story of four groups that are pioneers in the fields of regenerative agriculture, regenerative grazing, diversified crop development and restorative fishing.

Working with Director Chris Malloy to create an identity for a film that encompasses the revolution of returning to traditional and regenerative farming practices. The idea was to make a visual that could grab attention, be sized to multiple aspect ratios and colors, and animate when needed.

Unbroken Ground toured the nation with 15 screenings from NYC to Hawai’i that drew an estimated 8,000 people to standing-room-only events. After the tour, we put it on patagonia.com and provisions.com where 1M+ people have viewed it, and the Provisions team worked with media partner Nat Geo to release it across all its digital channels.
